Laughter can be used in de-escalating a tense situation or problem, but must be done with a delicate touch. LAUGHTER reduces stress hormones and can be used as a wellness therapy incorporated into group activities, workshops, and games. There are various laughter workshops that teach people how to laugh. Other methods used to get people to loosen up may include watching comedy, funny shows, or role-play.

Laughing is a social interaction occurence and can be highly contagious. Contagious laughter is very common during group get-togethers. When a group laughs because everyone else is laughing, this is called contagious laugher.
