“MANIPULATION
derives from a person’s ALTER EGO.
is a mood booster.“
MANIPULATION is a lifestyle for most people who practice this mindset, by manipulating a situation or other people to achieve their own selfish goals.
What is manipulation?
When we are confronted with the master manipulator we are dealing with two separate personalities. The first is the inner person and represents the truth. The second is called the alter ego, or second person, and presents as a lie or an altered version of the truth.
The manipulator will start to devalue their TARGET of manipulation. They make the TARGET feel like they are the person that is not thinking clearly or being rational. If the manipulator sees they cannot devalue their TARGET, they just discard them.
Manipulators may even use more aggressive tactics, depending on how desperate they are to get what the TARGET has to offer.
One such technique of manipulators is called, ‘filling you up with hot air.’ Filling the Target up with hot air includes compliments and strong words that play on the Target’s emotions with shame, guilt, and sorrow. These words or phrases are insincere and don’t hold any truth. They are designed to manipulate.
What is a classic example of how
manipulators play their game?
I met a life coach in the Philippines. She teaches ‘manipulation awareness’. She teaches men to be aware of various manipulation techniques by women. Many of her students seek to have serious relationships with women in foreign countries. According to the coach, the most popular manipulation technique in the world is called ‘Damsel in Distress’. There are many versions of the story that apply to both men and women.
The basic plot is to get money. “Please come save me. I need to be rescued! I need help! I don’t have enough money to pay my rent! My aunt got sick and I had to pay for the hospital visit. Please be my hero and come save me.” This approach will make your alter ego feel like a strong and protective man. This basic scenario is the most popular plot in the entire world because it feeds the Target’s sense of decency and plays on his or her emotions. Never fall for this classic manipulation.
