Clutter is too many papers spread all over your desk. Unopened junk mail and papers laying in stacks. Piles of unwashed dishes in our sink, and dirty clothes strewn around our bedroom. The best investment I ever made in my life was at age 22. I enrolled in a 3 hour organizing seminar at the Learning Annex. It was the single most valuable class I have ever taken in my business career. It taught
me how to develop an organized mindset for getting rid of clutter and maximizing my time for powerful productivity.
We have all heard that organization is one important key to success. Being organized takes learning the principles of organizing. Let’s take a look at of the basic organizing principles that I learned in the class that changed my life.
- Nothing should ever lay flat unless necessary.
- Anything hung in the closet and intended to be folded up, should be.
- No junk mail should enter the house.
- Any bill that can be paid automatically should.
- Take care of all easy tasks first to build motivation.
- Organizing aids like labels, folders, file cabinets, etc. are a necessity.
- Avoid putting things in bags because it takes time to find what’s inside.
